Periods 1 and 3, Senior Composition:
1. Failure notices will be issued for all those students originally on the roster who have not turned in their reflection essays.
2. Your one-minute oral presentations must be ready. No excuses!
3. Your second essay is described and taught on Page 20 of Writer's Choice. You will input it in Microsoft Word on Wednesday. It is to be finished Wednesday. If, in the meantime, we receive Vantage dates, you may work on it in the Vantage Lab. The assignment of this essay was written on the board and I directed your attention to it, yet very few of you took your books with you.
EX NIHIL, NIHIL FIT!
Period 2, Honors 11Th English using the AP curriculum:
1. Figures of speech quiz.
2. Standard vocabulary quiz.
3. New figures of speech assignment for tomorrow's quiz.
4. New vocabulary assignment for tomorrow's quiz.
5. Discussion of "The Iroquois Constitution" and "The Declaration of Independence."
6. Annotation of the two documents above in preparation for Wednesday's Library time for printing your "compare and contrast" essay. Your annotations must be in your notes, not in the book.
7. The first assignment in the Bedford Reader will be announced.
8. On Friday, I noticed that most of you were not taking notes during our discussions of Greek and Latin roots, the meaning of iambic pentameter, and our discussion of word choice as we discussed the standard vocabulary I assigned. This is not college-level behavior. If I take class time to teach it, I expect you to KNOW it. In future, you may be assured that I WILL collect your notes!
NOLI IRRITARE LEONES!

8. Begin the rough draft for the essay to be typed in the Library: "How does Maya Angelou's work spring from her background and personality." Use the research you did last Wednesday in the Library and the notes from our class discussion of her work. You will type this essay on Wednesday in the Library.
