Periods 1 and 3, World Literature:
1. Student part-taking in Oedipus Rex.(Period 1,top of Page 331)(Period 3, Page 342)
2. The essay on the ironies in "The Wife of Bath's Tale" will be collected on Friday, February 15, 2008.
3. Students will begin preparing to write an essay on Oedipus Rex. The essay will be written in Toulmin essay form. The claim is: Oedipus, himself, is responsible for the crimes of killing his father and marrying his mother. Refer to your notes and annotated Toulmin handouts.
Period 2, Honors 11Th English using the AP Curriculum:
1. Your final draft of the "Querencia" essay will be collected tomorrow, Friday, February 15, 2008.
2. Have your rough draft of the essay on Page 57 in the Cliff's AP handbook ready for peer editing.
3. Students will read Gore Vidal's "Drugs" on Page 454 in the Bedford Reader.
4. Students will continue to do research on the alleged failure of the public schools for their Toulmin essay.
Periods 5 and 6, American Literature/Composition:
1. Continued close reading of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Winter Dreams."
2. Students will prepare to write a five-paragraph essay on the misogyny evidenced in "Winter Dreams."
