MESSAGE TO ALL STUDENTS: MR. LEE, OUR LIBRIAN, WILL ALLOW YOU TO KEEP YOUR ACCELERATED READERS OVER THE TWO-MONTH B TRACK BREAK. THIS WILL GIVE YOU MORE THAN TWO MONTHS TO READ AND REREAD THE TEXT YOU HAVE CHOSEN FROM THE LIST OF 101 AND BOOKS AND PLAYS YOU SHOULD HAVE READ BEFORE GOING TO COLLEGE.
Periods 1 and 3, World Literature:
1. Written exercises for Part I of Oedipus Rex.
2. Continued work on Oedipus Rex, Page 331 top for period 1; period 3, Page 342.
3. Students will continue preparing the essay on Oedipus Rex.
Period 2, Honors 11Th English using the AP Curriculum:
1. Students will write a Rogerian essay on the banning of street drugs using Gore Vidal's essay on Page 454 of The Bedford Reader and information from our class discussions as a basis for the essay.
2. Homework: Students will take the forty-minute timed self-test on Page 89 in Cliff's AP handbook.
3. Students will continue to work on Postmodernism versus Modernism.
4. Students will continue to work on the Toulmin essay on the alleged failure of public schools.
5. Peer editing of the homework essay on Page 57 in Cliff's AP handbook will be done tomorrow.
Periods 5 and 6, American Literature/Composition:
1. Continued reading of "Winter Dreams."
2. Students will prepare an outline or diagram for their essay on misogyny in F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Winter Dream."
