AGENDAS FOR ALL CLASSES FOR WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2008

ALERT: ALL STUDENTS WILL TAKE THE ACCELERATED READER TEST ON OR BEFORE THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 14 2008.

PLEASE CHOOSE ANOTHER TEXT FROM THE LISTS. WORLD LITERATURE STUDENTS MUST CHOOSE A BRITISH OR FOREIGN TEXT.


Periods 1 and 3, World Literature:

1. Collection of annotated handouts on theater genre.

2. Continued student part-taking in Oedipus Rex.

3. The essay on the ironies in "The Wife of Bath's Tale" will be collected on Friday. Remember: No late papers.

4. Students will prepare to write an essay on Oedipus Rex. The essay will be written in Toulmin essay form. The Claim is: Oedipus, himself, is responsible for the crimes of killing his father and marrying his mother.


Period 2, Honors 11Th English using the AP Curriculum:

1. Collection of the "Querencia" essay.

2. Collection of the annotated handouts on "The Jazz Age."

3. Students will write the essay on Page 57 in Cliff's textbook. Please bring your rough draft tomorrow for peer editing.

4. Students will read Gore Vidal's "Drugs" on Page 454 in the Bedford Reader.

5. Discussion of a news event from the Internet.

6. Students will continue to research their Toulmin essay topic on the alleged failure of public schools.


Periods 5 and 6, American Literature/Composition:

1. Collection of the annotated handouts on "The Jazz Age."

2. Continued reading of F. Scot Fitzgerald's "Winter Dreams."

3. Students will prepare to write an essay on the misogynistic elements in "Winter Dreams."

4. Students will annotate a handout on "The Roaring Twenties" for homework.
