AGENDAS FOR ALL CLASSES FOR WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2008

ALL STUDENTS WILL SELECT ANOTHER ACCELERATED READER FROM THE LIST OF 101 BOOKS TO BE READ BEFORE GOING TO COLLEGE. WORLD LITERATURE STUDENTS MUST SELECT A BRITISH OR FOREIGN TEXT. YOU WILL HAVE OUR TWO-MONTH HOLIDAY TO READ THE TEXT AND REREAD IT. YOU WILL TAKE THE TEST THE WEEK OF OUR RETURN.


Periods 1 and 3, World Literature:

1.
Oedipus Rex,
Part II, Page 342: Students will take parts.

2. Students will continue preparing to write the Toulmin essay on who is ultimately responsible for the crimes of Oedipus.



Period 2, Honors 11Th English using the AP Curriculum:

1. Peer editing of the Rogerian essay written yesterday in class: "The Banning of Street Drugs."

2. Current event discussion: The Wisconsin and Hawaii Primaries.

3. The essay from Cliff's, Page 89, will be peer-edited on Friday, February 22, 2008.

4. Students will discuss "cause and effect" using the homework handout as a basis for discussion.

5. Students will continue work on Modernism versus Postmodernism.

6. Students will continue work on the Toulmin essay on the alleged failure of the public schools.


Periods 5 and 6, American Literature/Composition:


1. Continued work on F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Winter Dreams."

2. Discussion of misogyny in "Winter Dreams" in preparation for the essay.
