WELCOME TO THE SECOND SEMESTER OF OUR COURSES.

HERE IS THE SYLLABUS FOR SENIOR WORLD LITERATURE:

1. YOU WILL USE THE HOLT, RINEHART AND WINSTON TEXT, WORLD LITERATURE.

2. WHEN POSSIBLE, YOU WILL STUDY THE CONCOMITANT ART AND MUSIC OF THE PERIOD OF THE LITERATURE YOU ARE READING.

3. I WILL EXPOSE YOU TO ROGERIAN AND TOULMIN ESSAY FORMS.

4. I WILL INTRODUCE "THE INTERNATIONAL PHONETIC ALPHABET" USED IN COLLEGE DICTIONARIES.

5. WE WILL COMPLETE THE STUDY OF ARCHETYPES AND MOTIFS BEGUN IN SENIOR EXPOSITORY COMPOSITION.

6. BY MEANS OF ESSAY WRITING, I WILL WORK ON YOUR GRAMMAR AND WRITING SKILLS.

7. YOU WILL HAVE FREQUENT ASSIGNMENTS IN THE TEXT, WRITERS CHOICE.

8. SUPPLEMENTARY TEXTS WILL INCLUDE WORD CLUES,BY AMSEL GREEN (LATIN AND GREEK ROOTS),THE LOOM OF LANGUAGE, AND MODERN ENGLISH USAGE BY H. W. FOWLER.

9. WE WILL USE COLLEGE LEVEL DICTIONARIES IN CLASS, IF AVAILABLE.

10. WE WILL EXPLORE FOREIGN FILM LITERATURE.


WORLD HISTORY A:

1. STUDENTS WILL CONTINUE TO USE WORLD HISTORY MODERN TIMES AS THE BASIC TEXTS.

2. THE SUPPLEMENTAL PAPER BACK PROVIDED BY THE DISTRICT WILL BE USED WHEN APPROPRIATE.

3. DOCUMENTARIES AND FILMS SUPPORTING THE TEXT WILL BE SHOWN WHEN APPROPRIATE.

4. SUPPLEMENTARY TEXTS WILL BE INTRODUCED WHEN THE BASIC TEXT IS NOT SUFFICIENT.

5. MLA AND APA FORMS WILL BE DISCUSSED.

6. STUDENTS WILL WRITE ONE OR MORE RESEARCH PAPERS USING MLA FORM.

SENIOR EXPOSITORY COMPOSITION:

STUDENTS WILL CONTINUE LADY IN THE WATER BEING CAREFUL TO FOLLOW THE DIALOG SO AS TO IDENTIFY THE ARCHETYPES ILLUSTRATED IN THE SCRIPT.

UPON COMPLETION OF THIS FILM, STUDENTS WILL VIEW THE GREAT GATSBY. THE ASSIGNMENT IS TO DETERMINE IF ARCHETYPES APPEAR IN THIS FILM AND, IF SO, WHO ARE THEY AND WHICH ARCHETYPE DOES EACH REPRESENT.
