I AM STILL WORKING ON THE MATERIALS I AM PREPARING FOR YOU. MR. TUOMALA MAY HAVE ALREADY GIVEN YOU SOME PHOTOCOPIES ON FIGURES OF SPEECH AND RHETORICAL DEVICES. PLEASE CONTINUE READING THE ORIGINAL TEXT AND ANNOTATING IT. I AM DOING THIS, AS WELL.


ADVISORY:

1. PLEASE SELECT TWO OF YOUR NUMBER TO CLEAN OUR CORRIDOR.

AMERICAN LITERATURE AND COMPOSITION, PERIODS 2, 5, AND 6:

1. PLEASE BEGIN THE READING OF THE CRUCIBLE IN AMERICAN LITERATURE AND INTEGRATED STUDIES ON PAGE 62. STUDENTS WILL TAKE ROLES IN THE PLAY. PLEASE MAKE THE EFFORT TO GET THE INTONATION AND EMOTION RIGHT AS YOU READ YOUR PARTS.

2. STUDENTS, WHEN NOT READING, SHOULD BE FOLLOWING THE TEXT AND MAKING ANNOTATIONS DURING THE LESSON TO ENTER ON SAY/MEAN/MATTER PAPERS. THE SAY/MEAN/MATTER PAPERS WILL BE CONVERTED TO CORNELL NOTES FOR HOMEWORK.


EXPOSITORY COMPOSITION, PERIODS 1 AND 4:

1. WRITER'S CHOICE: STUDENTS WILL READ AND ANNOTATE PAGES 306 THROUGH 309. YOU MAY USE YOUR OWN PAPER, IF THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH PRINTED GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS FOR SAY/MEAN/MATTER.

2. WRITER'S CHOICE: STUDENTS WILL READ AMY TAN'S "MOTHER TONGUE" ON PAGES 310 THROUGH 315. STUDENTS WILL COME TO THE FRONT OF THE ROOM AND READ A PARAGRAPH OR TWO (DEPENDING ON THE LENGTH) ATTEMPTING TO ACHIEVE GOOD POSTURE, EYE CONTACT, AND VOICE PROJECTION. THIS EXERCISE IS TO ALLOW STUDENTS TO BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO SPEAKING IN FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE.
