Period 2, Honors 11Th English using the AP Curriculum:

1. Please review figures of speech.

2. You will write a Rogerian essay in which you state the pros and cons of separating goal-oriented students from those who are not goal-oriented. On the prompt, I will give you some suggestions you may use in your essay to support each side of the controversy. Also, I will offer some possible compromises. Some of the compromises I offer may be considered "jumping through the horns of a dilemma," but, in any case, I will allow you to use them. Please select one compromise only, or you may choose one of your own making.

3. Please make sure I have your Toulmin essays on hybrid cars. Please use the form suggested by The Owl of Purdue.

Periods 5 and 6 American Literature/Composition:

1. Be prepared to write on "The Crucible." You will compare the film and the play we have just read. Please consider the atmosphere, costumes, camera work, use of dialect, acting, setting, and changes the director made in the film. You may use other points of comparison you discover.

2. Please review the figures of speech in the back of your textbook.
